Public Opinion

The National Campaign has commissioned and released public opinion data since its inception in 1996.  The surveys are undertaken with four primary goals in mind.

  1. We think it is important to regularly assess and report on American opinion on teen and unplanned pregnancy and related issues.
  2. We believe that these periodic surveys of public opinion serve as a helpful addition to the behavioral data collected by the federal government.
  3. The surveys allow some insight into how public opinion on teen and unlanned pregnancy and other issues has changed, or not changed, over the years.
  4. The findings provide important insights on what policymakers, practitioners, parents, and others should do and say to help prevent teen and unplanned pregnancy.
